Seth Godin published a prescient post on the impact of Google and the internet on our personal brand:
Everything you do now ends up in your permanent record. The best plan is to overload Google with a long tail of good stuff and to always act as if you’re on Candid Camera, because you are.
I shared similar thoughts a year ago, specifically addressing privacy concerns on Facebook. Things haven’t changed since then. I now use Google to vet potential leaders at Quest. The reality is that private people no longer have the option to remain invisible. Embrace the changes and recognize the opportunity this provides to enhance your reputation by maintaining a life worth living. Little Brother is watching.
