Who is Samuel Kordik?
Let's start with the basics: I am a twenty-something guy living in Texas,
working as a paramedic, pursuing adventure, and loving life.
I was a student at the International ALERT Academy for two years, completing advanced rescue training, Fire academy, and paramedic school. I then served on staff from 2006 through 2010 in various capacities.
In 2006, I started the Quest program at the International ALERT Academy and ran the program for five years. Quest is a four-week summer program for teenaged young men that focused on pursuing Christ-like manhood.
I love emergency medicine, and as a paramedic, I respond to 911 emergency calls on a MICU (mobile intensive care unit) with the premier EMS service in East Texas. I have worked as a lead medic since 2008. I love my work: I get to help make people's worst days a little better, and I have to use my training, experience, and skill set in a time-pressured environment to stabilize and treat injured and ill patients.
I also enjoy teaching advanced courses such as AMLS (Advanced Medical Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and basic CPR and First Aid.
I love exploring the outdoors
When not working in the emergency medical field, I love exploring the outdoors, cooking & eating healthy meals, taking pictures, reading books, and enjoying music.
Other places I'm online:
I post pictures on Flickr, and updates on Twitter.
About this site:
I do web development work on occasion and built this site by hand for fun. I use Panic Coda (the best coding app out there) and Panic Transmit (the best FTP client out there) to do the building; the site itself runs on the versatile Wordpress platform.
